COCKTAIL HOT SAUCES

Recommended Hot Sauces To Spice Up Your Favourite Cocktails

What better way to thaw out from winter or heat up your summer nights than by spicing up your favourite cocktail with a dash of hot sauce?  You need just the right flavour profile and heat level to bring out the best in your bevvy without overpowering it.  After exhaustive testing (“hiccup) we’ve selected the following sauces to blend into various drinks.  Remember to dash in only a touch to start with.  You can always add but you can’t take away!

Caesar and Bloody Mary

  1. Chetty’s Lime Scotch Bonnet

  2. Ass Kickin’ Wasabi Horseradish

If you like your Caesar a bit more zesty than the pre-mixed variety, add a dash of lime Scotch Bonnet pepper sauce for tangy kick.  Wasabi or horseradish based hot sauces are also great in Caesars and Bloody Marys.  Tillen Farms’ Hot & Spicy Pickled Beans & Asparagus or Olive-it Garlic Stuffed and Hot Pickle Stuffed Olives are a must for garnish and a dash of chile powder in the rimmer will have you licking your lips.

Classic Martini

  1. Cajohns Frostbite

Frostbite is a hot sauce specifically designed for drinks.  It’s colourless and nearly tasteless with plenty of kick and a slight vinegar note that works well in a dry martini garnished with an Olive-It Olive, of course.  A Martini Olive or Lemon Zest Olive would be great.  For fun try Blue Cheese Stuffed, Blue Cheese & Jalapeño Stuffed, Hot Turkish Pepper Stuffed or Hot Pickle Stuffed Olives.

Gin & Tonic

  1. Chetty’s Lime Scotch Bonnet

Just a few drops will spark your G & T.  Garnish the edge of the glass with a slice of lime dipped in Tajin Mexican Chile, Lime & Salt Seasoning for an aromatic twist.

Manhattan

  1. Blair’s Heat Habanero Mango

Sweet habanero mango sauce like Blair’s Heat blends well with rye and sweet vermouth in a Manhattan.  Garnish with a Tillen Farms’ all-natural Marachino Cherry.

Margarita

  1. Chetty’s Pineapple Scotch Bonnet

  2. Jump Up and Kiss Me Original

  3. Hot Mamas Mango Pineapple Splash

Choose a tropical fruit infused hot sauce to blend with a margarita and mix some jalapeño powder into the rimming salt for truly hot lips.  If tequila shooters are on the drink menu, dip the wedges of lime in salt and chile powder.  That’ll slow you down!

Chocolatini

  1. The Epicentre Ancho Chile Powder

There are some spicy chocolate sauces on the market that you can blend into a chocolatini but a dusting of cocoa powder mixed with ancho chile powder will add lip smacking kick.

Rootbeer Float

  1. The Epicentre Ancho Chile Powder

Don’t forget to zip up mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, too.  Try that dusting of chile powder on top of a root beer float and you’ll never go back to plain old ice cream again.
